We are The Professional Musicians of Central New York, but we answer to several different names - CNY Musicians, American Federation of Musicians - Local 78 or Local 78 - AFM, and most often, the Musicians' Union.

As a fraternal organization, an important part of our mission is to provide support and assistance to our members in securing performing engagements and in negotiating agreements with presentors and purchasers of live music. But we are much more than that. As part of the world's largest international entertainment union based in New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto, we are able to offer an unmatched array of member benefits, services and a vast support network, in cooperation with metropolitan and regional Locals located throughout the United States and Canada.

 

By virtue of our working relationship with the top professional musicians in Central New York and throughout North America, we are also uniquely positioned to provide an important link between our members and the diverse musical interests of the community and the public in general. Through our free two-way referral service, we are able to assist both performing artists and live music consumers to find each other, resulting in just the right music for each and every special event. There is never a charge to either our members or the music purchaser for this essential service.
